Every month

Every month I'll post a new "taste" of Art Pepper's music as a FREE DOWNLOAD. These tastes are given away because they are "unreleasable" by virtue of the recording being cut off at beginning or end or by brief audio problems that occurred in the recording process.

THEY'RE TOO STUNNING TO HIDE AWAY IN MY FILES AS YOU'LL SOON SEE.

I'll also post occasional journal entries including updates on new releases.

ALMOST-FREEBIE FOR MAY!

Recorded (badly!) in Adelaide, Australia with the Last Quartet. George Cables, David Williams, Carl Burnett. Pictured is Peter Noble who produced this GREAT and delightful tour in August, 1981.

There's a new album coming
In November of this year.
It's a dilly, it's a big one
Pivotal in Art's career.
I'll say no more about it, but as many of you know
I try to be a good guy and to keep my prices LOW.
If you want to help to keep me on this straight and narrow path
All you fans will gather round now, and help me with the math.
Keep the music coming, donate to it and me.
And a happy May to all of us!
Signed, LP

P.S. If you can't manage more than a buck, that's fine. I'm sorry I'm charging even that. But 1. This is a beautiful long track (albeit audio-wise it sucks). And 2.  (believe it or not!) literally thousands of people download the freebies and never ever give any money for them. You can say, "Well, you ARE promotiing them for free!" Which is true. But come on, thousands of people and not a dime! (Are they bots?)

  1. Thank you Laurie from an Australian AP fan - I'm happy with the SQ (sounds fine to me), anyway it's nice to hear something of Art's recorded downunder. Was the whole concert (or others) recorded?
Also many thanks for releasing the recent Art & Warne live at Donte's 74 - It's a stunner. I actually bought a hard copy of that. One of the top jazz releases of 2016 IMHO.

  2. Dear Laurie, Thanks for your hard work. We discussed it by mail back in 2012 but why don't you use crowdfunding? I would love to see the Art Pepper fans community unite for your projects! Best, Olivier

  3. Thanks for your comment, Olivier. The problem with crowdfunding is that it is almost a fulltime job to set it up. I have to write liner notes, design covers, sell, ship, write, have some kind of personal life, etc. etc. etc. I can't manage my life as it is!
